Under the Hood

An AI course for teenagers — eight chapters, a live AI, and a dictionary.

01The starting point

A family in Switzerland asked me to spend a week teaching their kids about AI. Teenagers use these tools constantly and almost none of them know what's happening inside. I didn't want to hand them a slide deck they'd close and never open again.

02The build

A self-paced course explaining what actually happens on the other side of the screen when you talk to an AI. Eight chapters, each readable at three depths, a searchable 115-term dictionary, and a live ask box wired to Claude.

03Current status

Live and in use for the residency, alongside a separate intake that tailors each kid's path before they arrive.

04Reflections

Three depth layers per chapter was the thing that worked. The same chapter reads in two minutes or in twenty, and the reader chooses. Nobody gets talked down to and nobody gets lost.
