Who Is Asking

An AI that holds the question Who am I? and hands it back to you.

01The starting point

I wanted a digital space that pointed inward instead of outward. Most AI apps try to know you, remember you, keep you coming back. I built the opposite: something that forgets you completely, so the only thing left is the question itself.

02The build

A minimalist, anonymous AI companion given one task: to sit with the question 'Who am I?' and return it to you, never answering it. No accounts, no memory, no analytics. The conversation ends when you close the window.

03Current status

Live and open. Shared with students and friends as a contemplative tool.

04Reflections

Designing absence is harder than designing features. No memory, no accounts, no save button. Every choice had to reinforce the same teaching: this isn't about the app, it's about you. Restraint can be the whole product.
